About Us

Kaya’s Kitchen opened its doors in January 18, 2005 by owner and head chef, Omer Basatemur. Omer has been a vegetarian since the age of 19, and gained much of his experience working at the legendary veggiworks restaurant. There, he obtained culinary skills and learned a great deal about what it takes to provide the community with the best vegan cuisine matched with a relaxed dining ambiance and friendly, efficient service from our staff. At Kaya’s, we take a great deal of pride in the cuisine we serve for many reasons. We Support all eco-friendly concepts possible, beginning with organic ingredients, including all our produce, herbs, spices, oils, grains, beans, beverages, and as many other supplies as we can! This is one of the main reasons we believe our cuisine stands out. We are working with groundbreaking culinary concepts every that make the planet a better place (We even recycle our fryer oil! That’s right, Once a week, Farmer Frank brings us his beautiful locally grown organic produce from his farm in South Jersey. He actually uses our fryer oil to run his tractors on his farm!).

Our menu is inspired by many cultures of the world including Asian, Indian, Caribbean, Mexican, Mediterranean and good ol’ Classic Americana right down to the “Meat”loaf and mashed potatoes. We want anyone and everyone to be satisfied with the cuisine selection from die-hard vegans, to the most skeptic carnivores. So to all of our devoted patrons, to the next person trying us for the first time, we appreciate your support and desire for our cuisine.

From The Owners:

Thank you to all of the beautiful souls that helped make Kaya’s what it is today. Our amazing daughter Kaya, who has been the motivation and drive behind this whole endeavor. All our staff who day in and day out keep up the drive. Our friends and family who believe in what we do.

We have come to a time in history where the next few years may play out to be very important. There is chaos taking place in many places across the globe, and it seems like at the same time there is a certain level of awareness & enlightenment. We have had the pleasure of meeting many faces of all colors, ages, and sizes, many of with one thing in common: we know we can no longer destroy this planet and it’s resources the way we have, or it will not be around for our children’s children. We do not like to “push” our beliefs upon others, but all we ask is try. Try to think about what you can do as one person. See how it feels to be as loving to our mother earth as possible, then start to see the difference that you can make to your own happiness, knowing that you may be paving the path for future generations.
